Americký herec a režisér Burgess Meredith, celým jménem Oliver Burgess Meredith se narodil 16. listopadu 1907 v Clevelandu (Ohio). Prožil neradostné dětství, plné násilí a strachu v rodině alkoholika. Ke svému neutěšenému dětství se vrací ve své autobiografické knize "So Far, So Good" ( Zatím je to dobrý) z roku 1994.
