Slavný charakterní herec amerických westernů. Své jméno Chill (zima) získal jako ironickou připomínku toho, že se narodil do nejteplejšího dne roku 1903. Od mládí se věnoval hudbě a od svého dvanáctého roku vystupoval v nejrůznějších estrádách. Vytvořil hudební skupinu Chill Wills and his Avalon Boys, která během svého hollywoodského vystoupení natolik zaujala tehdejší producenty, že si celá zahrála v několika nízkorozpočtových westernech.
