Thriller Výkupné (1974) zavádí diváky do blíže neurčené skandinávské země, kde skupina teroristů obsadila rezidenci britského velvyslance, aby dosáhla propuštění svých druhů z britských vězení. V dramatickém a komplikovaném ději se překvapivě zkříží zájmy britské a místní bezpečnosti… Hlavní roli místního šéfa bezpečnosti Tahlvika ztělesnil známý skotský herec Sean Connery, který se v té době snažil zbavit nálepky své nejslavnější postavy – neohroženého agenta 007 Jamese Bonda. Jeho protihráčem v úloze teroristy Petrieho byl tehdy populární anglický herec Ian McShane. Režíroval málo známý finský tvůrce německého aristokratického původu Casper Wrede (1929–1998), který na sebe předtím upozornil filmovou adaptací Solženicynova románu Jeden den Ivana Děnisoviče (1970), a za kamerou stál slavný Bergmanův spolupracovník Sven Nykvist. Snímek vznikl v norských exteriérech a hrál se v druhé polovině sedmdesátých let i v našich kinech. Tehdy také vznikla česká verze, v níž postavu Petrieho namluvil těsně před svou emigrací Jan Tříska, jehož jméno bylo z filmu odstraněno. (Česká televize)
