Herečka Robin Wright hraje sebe samu: filmovou hvězdu za zenitem, které s přibývajícími vráskami ubývá rolí. Na stole leží možná poslední velká nabídka. Filmové studio chce naskenovat její tělo, pohyby i emoce, a koupit si tak virtuální herečku, která už nezestárne ani o den. Strach z konce kariéry, příslib věčného mládí ve světě filmu a štědrá finanční kompenzace nakonec Robin přimějí souhlasit. Po dvaceti letech se vydává jednat o prodloužení smlouvy na futurologický kongres. Ocitá se ve světě zcela transformovaném a fantazijním, v animované zóně, kde každý může být, kým chce. Vizuálně omračující zpracování povídky kultovního autora sci-fi Stanisława Lema (Solaris) je osobitou reflexí společnosti, která vzývá kult mládí a opájí se průmyslově vyráběnými iluzemi. Režisér Ari Folman (Valčík s Bašírem) originálním způsobem kombinuje herecké výkony (Harvey Keitel, Paul Giamatti) s animovanými pasážemi, přičemž zápletku ponechává otevřenou různým interpretacím. Navrch přidává divákům bonus: množství na první pohled skrytých detailů a hříček, které vyniknou až při opakovaném zhlédnutí filmu. (oficiální text distributora)
