Kristin Gustavsson žije se svým manželem a dcerou Idou v západním Norsku. Kristin je žena, která věnuje všechen svůj čas podnikání i své rodině. Ale když se po dlouhé době vrací do vesnice její mladší sestra Merit, pro všechny je překvapením. Kristin je v napětí, protože její těžce strážené tajemství je v ohrožení. Marit ví o tajemství, které Kirsten nechce, aby se její dcera dozvěděla. Marit je totiž biologická matka Idy. Marit, v té době stále dítětem, byla pod tlakem svých rodičů nucena předat dítě Kirsten ihned po porodu a následně opustit vesnici. Ida postupně přichází na tajemství své rodiny. Kirsten se zoufale snaží o udržení své rodiny pohromadě. (TV Barrandov)
