Seriál Airwolf se odehrává běhěm Studené války v 80. letech. Hlavním hrdinou je Stringfellow Hawke (Jan-Michael Vincent), bývalý armádní testovací pilot, který se svým přítelem, majitelem malého soukromého letiště Dominicem Santiniim (Ernest Borgnine) vlastní supermoderní, nadzvukovou, bojovou, stealth helikoptéru, kódově označnou "Airwolf". Tato základní dvojice seriálu bojuje v USA a po celém světě proti terorismu, zločincům, levicově orientovaným diktátorům a zároveň hledají Hawkova bratra Saint Johna Hawka (aka Sin Jin), který se ztratil v akci během války ve Vietnamu. Helikoptéru Airwolf (pro natáčení použita helikoptéra Bell 222) měly zprvu pro armádu vyzkoušt Hawke a Santini. Ti však helikoptérů vyzkoušeli, ale nevrátili. Skryli ji ve vyhlaslé sopce poblíž Santiniho soukromého letiště. Posádka Airwolfu je na mise vysílana tajnou zpravodajskou agenturou F.I.R.M., frakcí CIA. Seriál se natáčel od roku 1984 do roku 1987 s celkovým počtem 79 dílů. (c.tucker)
