"Vyrábět filmy je totéž jako péci koláče, jen musíte vědět, z čeho těsto udělat a jak ho uhníst" Americký režisér, producent a "otec westernu" Thomas Harper Ince se narodil 6. listopadu 1882 v Newportu (Rhode Island). Začínal jako zpěvák, tanečník a divadelní herec. Od roku 1910 se začal věnovat filmu, nejdříve jako střihač, později jako režisér a producent. Svými moderními, ve své době průkopnickými metodami filmování se stal jedním z nejvýznamnějších zakladatelů… (více)

Lepší společnost (2001)

Posledním filmem, který režíroval Thomas Ince, byla adaptace hry Eugene O'Neilla Anna Christie (1923). Látka natolik zajímavá, že se stala prvním zvukovým filmem Grety Garbo o sedm let později a další a další přepisy na sebe nenechaly čekat. (NinadeL)

Za dveřmi (1919)

Většina natáčení Za dveřmi probíhala v Inceho novém studiu v Culver City. Scény s ponorkou vznikly v San Pedru v srpnu 1919. Při natáčení jedné z nich se vytvořil tak silný vír, že stáhl hlavního představitele Hobarta Boswortha pod hladinu. Podle zářijového čísla Motion Pictures News „pouze jeho pozoruhodná fyzická zdatnost zachránila herce před utopením“. (Zdroj: Letní filmová škola)
