Swann s několika přáteli se utkají s Nixem/Puritánem, vůdcem sekty, zabijí ho a ze spárů sekty osvobodí mladou dívku. Po třinácti letech se soukromý detektiv Harry D´Amour stane náhodným svědkem vraždy vykladače karet. Tím se dostane do kolotoče nezvyklých událostí plných magie a násilí. Kolem začínají umírat lidé, včetně iluzionisty Swanna. Harry se nejen prostřednictvím Swannovy vdovy Dorothey (jež je onou osvobozenou dívkou) snaží přijít všemu na kloub. Vše směřuje k tomu, že Nix není tak úplně mrtev, jak by se zdálo, a chystá se znovu povstat. Sekta se opět schází v poušti, aby se stala svědkem Puritánova znovuzrození. Harrymu nezbývá, než se zlu postavit a utkat se s Puritánem. (eraserhead666)
