Nora Martirosyan started her career as a painter in Armenia, her birth country. She lives and works in Montpellier, France. She studied at the Yerevan Academy of Fine Arts. After having participated in several group exhibitions, and exhibited in solo at the Governmental House of the Party (Yerevan,1993), she left Armenia in order to pursue her artistic studies at the "Gerriet Rietveld Academy", Amsterdam School of Fine Arts, between 1997 and 2001. During her time spent in the Netherlands, she abandoned painting to focus on film and video.
