Podle legendy navštívili naši Zemi mimozemšťané. Jeden z důkazů o své přítomnosti zanechali také na Velikonočním ostrově. Šlo o posvátnou desku, které se však zmocnili vykradači hrobů. V době, kdy končí 2. světová válka, dostane poručík Harris tajný úkol, při jehož plnění se se svým letadlem dostane nevysvětlitelné situace. Po nouzovém přistání objeví dlouhou dobu pohřešovanou válečnou loď Idaho, která zmizela díky Philadelphskému experimentu. Vědci se při něm snažili loď zviditelnit, ale ta se i s posádkou nevrátila.
