V kancelářských výškových budovách britské společnosti Reynholm Industries pracuje spousta krásných a šťastných lidí, kteří slaví jeden úspěch za druhým - kromě trojice zaměstnanců ukrývajících se v suterénu v oddělení informačních technologií. Zatímco jejich kolegové pracují ve fantastickém prostředí, Jen, Roy a Moss se musí tísnit v temném a nevzhledném sklepě, neschopní zapadnout do normální společnosti. Jen (Katherine Parkinsonová) je kariéristka, která se snaží vyšplhat po firemním žebříčku. Kvůli tomu, že lhala ve svém životopisu, se však naneštěstí ocitne ve funkci manažerky oddělení IT. Problém tkví v tom, že o technologiích neví zhola nic! Roy (Chris O'Dowd) a Moss (Richard Ayoade), kteří tvoří zbytek oddělení, naopak sdílejí lásku k informačním technologiím, sci-fi i sladkému nicnedělání. Oběma se ale příčí pracovat pod někým, kdo vůbec nerozumí počítačům. Když Jen zjistí, že toho Roy a Moss možná vědí hodně o počítačích, ale o práci s lidmi netuší skoro nic, rozhodne se převzít roli "vztahové manažerky", aby pomohla nejen jim, ale i sobě. Seriál Ajťáci nabízí hravý a poněkud absurdní pohled na to, co skutečně obnáší práce v útrobách každé společnosti - v oddělení informačních technologií. (HBO Europe)
