Robert Morley zanedbává svou ženu Ginu Lollobrigidu, a to je skvělá příležitost pro roztouženého souseda Aleca Guinnesse!
Aby se pomstila manželovi Henrimu (Robert Morley), že jí zanedbává a dává raději přednost historické architektuře, souhlasí krásná Marcelle (Gina Lollobrigida) s pozváním na večeři od souseda Benedicta Bonifáce (Alec Guinness). Bonifácova panovačná žena Angelique (Peggy Mount) zrovna odjela na noc za churavou sestrou, Henri kamsi na inspekci vodovodů, a Benedict se tak nehodlá spokojit jen s dvořením u stolu, zná totiž skvělé místo, kde budou moci v načatém večeru nerušeně pokračovat. Paradiso má pověst hotelu, kde se málo ptají, ale vždy je tu alespoň jeden volný pokoj k mání. Dnes v noci je ovšem v Paradiso pokojů zásadní nedostatek, na čemž nese vinu i známý architekt zkoumající tu místní vodovodní řád! (dopitak)
