Osamělý, zasmušilý a hluchoněmý Malcolm Shanks žije s krutou sestrou a jejím manželem. Jeho jediným potěšením je výroba a vodění loutek. Díky svým schopnostem začne pracovat jako asistent Dr. Walkera, který pracuje na vynálezu, jak kontrolovat mrtvá těla pomocí elektrody zavedené do hlavních nervových zakončení, což umožňuje vodění těl podobně jako u loutek. Když profesor nečekaně zemře, rozhodne se Shank vyzkoušet podivný experiment s lidským tělem, a začne spřádat plán pomsty. (oficiální text distributora)
