Špatná setba, natočená podle stejnojmené hry Maxwella Andersona, vypráví příběh desetileté Rhody Penmarkové (Patty McCormack) a její matky Christiny (Nancy Kelly). Malá Rhoda má vše, co si kdy mohla přát, až na medaili, kterou vyhrál její spolužák Claude, a kterou měla dostat ona. Jednoho dne se ale Claude nešťastnou náhodou utopí v jezeře a medaile se záhadně objeví ve Rhodině pokoji.
