Film byl natočen podle stejnojmenné povídky George Langelaana. Hlavní postavou je Helene (Patricia Owens), která svému švagrovi Francoisovi (Vincent Price) a inspektorovi Charasemu objasňuje okolnosti záhadné smrti jejího muže André Delombrea (Al Hedison). Podle jejího tvrzení vynalezl její muž jakýsi teleport, který následně vyzkoušel sám na sobě. S ním se však nepozorovaně přenesla i malá moucha. Geny se pomíchaly a výsledkem byl muž s muší hlavou a končetinou a moucha s hlavou a končetinou lidskou. I když má André muší hlavu, je stále člověkem a snaží se hrůzné důsledky experimentu zvrátit. Film se stal hitem své doby a často je považován za skvělé završení hororové éry padesátých let. (Hurley)
