Dveře zamčené zevnitř, okna zavřená na petlici, krbová mříž příliš malá, než aby se jí kdokoli protáhl, za stolem mrtvý muž v podivně ztuhlé pozici, napovídající požití nějakého účinného jedu – a zmizení klenotů obrovské ceny. Sherlock Holmes už za svůj život rozluštil nejednu záhadu, ta, před kterou jej osud postavil nyní, však skutečně vypadá neřešitelně. Normální smrtelník by to nepochybně vzdal. Holmes se však odjakživa řídí zásadou, že vyloučí-li se nemožné, to, co zůstane – byť to vypadá šíleně – musí být pravda. A k odhalení pravdy je Holmes ochoten použít jakýkoliv způsob. Třeba i zaměstnání svého netradičního příležitostného pomocného sboru. (Česká televize)
