V roce 1999 je velkým problémem nukleární odpad, na Zemi pro něj už není místo a je proto skladován na Měsíci. Bohužel však dojde k nečekané havárii, při které exploze odpadu odmrští Měsíc hluboko do galaxie i s 311 člennou posádkou základny Alfa. Posádka je uvězněna na Měsící, řítícím se velkou rychlostí napříč galaxií, bez naděje na návrat domů. (supo)
