Americký dramatický televizní seriál The Sopranos, který získal celou řadu prestižních cen, vzešel z tvůrčí dílny Davida Chase a byl natočen v původní produkci HBO. Vypráví o mafiánském bossovi z New Jersey Tonym Sopranovi, který musí čelit celé řadě těžkostí ve snaze vyvážit svůj často konfliktní soukromý život s prací pro zločineckou organizaci, jíž stojí v čele. Hvězdami seriálu jsou James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano), Lorraine Braccová (terapeutka dr. Jennifer Melfiová), Edie Falcová (Sopranova manželka Carmela), Michael Imperioli (Tonyho synovec Christopher), Dominic Chianese (strýc Junior) a další. Seriál se na HBO v USA vysílal od ledna 1999 do června 2007, měl šest sérií a 86 epizod. Byl také uveden v dalších zemích. Vanity Fair jej nazval „největším dílem popkultury naší doby“. Seriál díky brilantnímu uměleckému zpracování nastavil vysoko laťku svým následovníkům a prorazil cestu mnoha dalším úspěšným televizním seriálům. Získal celou řadu cen, včetně 21 ocenění Emmy a pěti Zlatých glóbů, a stal se předmětem mnoha analýz i parodií. (HBO Europe)
