Čtyřdílné drama Kateřina Veliká vtáhne diváky na dvůr nejmocnější panovnice v dějinách, ovládaný bouřlivými politickými událostmi a všudypřítomným sexuálním napětím. Kateřina (Helen Mirrenová) vládla Rusku téměř celou polovinu 18. století. Tato silná, nezávislá, neuvěřitelně inteligentní a sexuálně emancipovaná carevna byla ztělesněním moderní ženy. Minisérie pojednává o závěru jejího vladařského života, kdy udržovala vášnivý poměr s ruským vojenským velitelem Grigorijem Potěmkinem (Jason Clarke). Ve víru skandálů, intrik a konfliktů se odehrává příběh posedlé lásky. Přestože se nemohli oficiálně vzít a byli proslulí svojí promiskuitou, zrodil se mezi nimi jedinečný a oddaný vztah. Společně přemohli své protivníky a postavili základy současného Ruska. (HBO Europe)
