Roku 2005 se na obrazovkách amerických televizí objevila šestidílná minisérie Into the West (Na Západ), na které se jako vedoucí výroby (producent) podílel slavný Steven Spielberg. Epizody seriálu jsou dlouhé zhruba 90 minut a velmi věrně mapují historii amerického západu v letech 1820-1890. Na pozadí příběhu dvou hlavních hrdinů- jižanského koláře Jacoba Wheelera a lakotského šamana Milovaný Bizony, se velmi důvěrně seznámíme s reáliemi té doby i hlavními historickými postavami. Znalci mohou ocenit dobové oděvy, prostředí a nesmírně citlivě zpracované téma lakotských obřadů, kde se vystřídala plejáda snad všech nejlepších indiánských herců v rolích legendárních náčelníků té doby.
